Gift yourself clarity, peace, and opportunity by signing up for December Detox.

I challenge you to delete your social media apps and remove that digital distraction from your life for the whole of December. This is what I call a detox.

Allow yourself to disconnect from the online world and reconnect to yourself, your mind, and your surroundings.

Sometimes we just need a break from socials, right? I invite you to join me.

This is the 3rd time I’m running December Detox since deciding to share my personal practice with people who need it. It feels special.

Why I started

Firsty, the real reason I took a break from social media during December years ago was because I was skint.

I saw everyone’s happy family posts go up, with living rooms full of presents, every Christmas, and I felt like a failure.

I was super skint, usually borrowing money at Christmas to fill the space underneath the tree. It was like I was forever losing in competition with the other parent.

Between speaking up and biting my tongue to keep the peace, my reality was far from the families I saw on my newsfeed.

I was also sad that I couldn’t enjoy the day with my mum, and that she was missing out on so much and that my kids never got to meet her.

Of course, December Detox didn’t bring my mum back. It certainly didn’t change the performative relationships I had with relatives either. But it did help me to refocus on what I did have.

Being away from social media helped me be more present, and more accepting of the little blessings throughout my life.

Now my reasons for having a social media break are all about reclaiming my time, mental capacity, and attention, and having the opportunity to focus on myself.

Maybe that’s something you could do too.

About December Detox

I started this solo in 2017. In 2018, I invited people to join me and then again in 2019. Now I’m doing it again for 2020 and it will be the best one yet..

I send out daily prompts, tasks, and encouragement, to help guide everyone as they experience a month without social media apps.

I’m doing things a little differently this year, including a weekly Zoom chat with the DD collective, which I’m really looking forward to.

What I love about this is that the transformation isn’t just mine alone, it is a shared experience, and this is proven by the feedback given by people who signed up.
